The notetaker records the meeting audio exactly as the meeting platform delivers it. Noise that other participants can hear — traffic, fans, keyboard typing, echo from speakerphones — is also in the recording and can lower transcript accuracy.
What helps most
- Headsets or earphones with a microphone, instead of laptop speakers and microphones.
- Muting when not speaking.
- Turning on the meeting platform's own noise suppression (available in Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams settings).
- Avoiding several people joining from one room on separate laptops, which causes echo.
After the meeting, review the minutes and correct anything the noise may have changed before you send them.
