Why We Built Vaani AI
Meetings are full of ideas, decisions and promises. Too often, important details disappear into chats, memory and unfinished notes. We started VAANI to turn conversations into clear records and useful next steps — without making AI expensive or difficult to use.
We didn’t begin as software engineers. We began with a problem worth solving — and learned, step by step, how to build the answer.

VAANI (वाणी) is a Sanskrit word for voice or speech. Inspired by our love for Sanskrit and India’s rich language heritage, we chose a name that reminds us why we started: every voice deserves to be heard, understood and remembered. VAANI brings that belief into everyday work, helping spoken ideas become something useful.

Privacy and User Control
Your meetings are yours. Recordings and files are kept in the storage your organisation selects — VAANI’s own server by default, or a supported cloud bucket you connect. Access requires sign-in and is limited by organisation and role, and some steps, such as transcription and minutes, use trusted AI service providers.
Affordable by Design
Useful AI should not belong only to companies with big budgets. We work to keep VAANI practical and affordable, so even a small business or independent worker can benefit from technology that makes everyday work easier.

An Idea Born from Frustration
We saw how easily useful conversations, decisions and action items could be forgotten. We wanted to build something that helped every working person — not just large companies.
The first challenge
The Cost of Building
We searched for people who could build the product, but the prices we received were beyond our means. With limited time, resources and finances, and no coding background, we chose to learn and build it ourselves. Progress was not always easy, but we kept moving forward.
The hardest challenge
Understanding India’s Voices
Indian languages, different scripts, accents and mixed-language conversations made the journey harder. We kept exploring and testing ways to balance language quality, reliability and cost, rather than making the product unnecessarily expensive.
Step by step
From Idea to a Live Product
Over the months that followed, we learned, built, connected services and overcame setbacks until VAANI became a working online product. We faced competition and uncertainty, but our purpose remained the same: make practical AI accessible to people who are often overlooked.
